Rajkumari Devi of Muzaffarpur, Bihar has been selected this year for Padma Shri Award. The journey of Rajkumari Devi from “Cycle Chachi“, “Kisan Chachi“, “Kishan Shree” and to “Padma Shri” was not easy. When Rajkumari Devi of Anandpur village of Saraiya block from Muzaffarpur first stepped out of her house, she had to face the taunts and disrespect of the society. But the “Kishan Chachi” who woke up the revolution among the farmers today is the source of Motivation for thousands of women.
But this journey was not so easy. Born in a simple family, Rajkumari Devi married in the farming family. In the condition of financial crisis, they were not ready to do anything themselves. First, she took knowledge of advanced agriculture from Rajendra agricultural university and started papaya(papita) and hail (ool) cultivation on her land. She started making and selling the flour of what she Produced.
Her steps didn’t stop. She started making small farm products with agriculture and started selling products through Bicycle in nearby areas and in Fests(Mela). When the women of the village came to know of it, they too started coming to learn.
In 2003 Rajkumari Devi was rewarded by Chief Minister Lalu Prasad during the Agricultural Mela in Saraiya. During the Nitish government in 2007, She got the honour of Kisan Shree. Amitabh Bachchan has also appreciated. She has been praised by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Bihar CM Shri Nitish Kumar.
