Thousands of pilgrims have reached by Thursday evening for full moon bath at Ganga-Gandak Sangam and other Ghats. Their coming continues. The full moon bath is on November 4. Kali Ghat with Sadhu Gachi from Pul Ghat and there are over ten thousand saints and various followers of different religions from different parts of the country in the first Jaja Dham. The highest number of saints is seen in Kabir’s followers. All ancient monasteries – including Hariharanath temple, Gajendra Moksha Devasthanam, Kali Mandir and Radhakrishna Temple – have decorated. The administration has made extensive preparations for safe bathing on river basins. Security circles have been built in the river.
According to locals, traders of woollen garments have come from Varanasi, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Haridwar, Panipat, Ludhiana and Jammu and Kashmir at the fair. The number of Kashmiri merchants is almost two dozen. About one and a half thousand shops have been set up in the fair. This year, more than fifty government and non-governmental establishments are exhibiting in the fair. Three-four exhibitions, including tourism department and village shree pavilion, can be started. The construction of other exhibitions is going on at war level. The animal market has the most glow in the horse market. About five thousand horses have come. So far two elephants have come. Many elephants are on the way. This time it is being seen in the fair of the Games-Show. Many casualties will also be present at the inaugural ceremony.
Special arrangements for the convenience and security of lakhs of pilgrims coming here have been arranged. Pure drinking water is also provided with cleanliness, adequate lighting. In view of security, 19 temporary police stations have been constructed in the fair. In the fair area, 600 police officers and 1100 police jawans have been deployed for security. Dog squad has been arranged to deal with the emergency. The district administration has also made Sonpur Mela App to give every information of the fair this time.
DM said that devotees will have to undergo intensive investigation before entering the Baba Harihar Nath temple. The cattle market has started slowly flowing. Tourism Minister Pramod Kumar presided over the inauguration ceremony. Guests released the Fair Mirror 2017.
